Dr. Ishwar Gilada
Chairman and Managing Director, Physician in STDs and HIV
The first person to raise the alarm against AIDS in India in 1985, Dr. Ishwar Gilada is a globally acclaimed HIV expert, credited with bringing India on the AIDS control map of the world. He is the President of AIDS Society of India (ASI), Secretary General of Peoples Health Organisation-India(PHO)-the premier NGO that spearheaded India’s HIV awareness campaign since 1985 and was also elected as the Governing Council member of International AIDS Society in 2018. Among the innumerable awards and recognitions he has received, a few remarkable ones are “The Outstanding Young Person of the World” award conferred on him by The Junior Chamber International, USA and the coveted Annemarie Madison International Award in Munich where he waslabelled ‘the Indian Machinegun against AIDS’(1999). Being a very ardent teacher, he has trained thousands of students, doctors, nurses, social workers and counselors in HIV-care.
He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Unison Medicare and has groomed this centre with a lot of passion and ravenousness for highest quality health care for all. Besides health, he loves talking to his patients about their children and takes great interest in their academic progress.
Dr. Trupti Gilada-Baheti
Physician in Infectious Diseases
She is a physician in Infectious Disease and Adult Medicine. She received her medical training in MBBS and MD Medicine from the Nair and KEM Hospitals respectively. Thereafter, she headed to the USA where she spent 3 years doing fellowships in Infectious Diseases at the prestigious Harvard University and ‘HIV/AIDS and Drug Use’ at the Fred Hutchinson Centre. Her aspiration to bring together unmatchable clinical acumen from India and state-of-art management protocols of the USA brought her back to Mumbai in 2016 where she now strives to offer medical care of the highest quality to all her patients.
During the ongoing Covid-19 epidemic, she has been very closely involved not just with the clinical treatment of COVID patients but also with prevention and education programs as also policymaking.
She is also an Infectious Disease Consultant at the Prince Aly Khan Hospital and Masina Hospital, both being multi-speciality hospitals in South Mumbai. And a mom to a naughty 4-year-old!
Dr. Prapti Gilada-Toshniwal
Microbiologist
Having done her MD Microbiology from KEM Hospital, she served the Sewri Group of TB Hospitals. After this, she did a fellowship in Tuberculosis Diagnostics from the renowned CAPRISA, South Africa. She now heads the microbiology lab at Prince Aly Khan Hospital and at Unison. She is very passionate about point-of-care diagnostics and infection control.
Sindhu Gilada
Director-Administration
Fondly called ‘Bhabhi’ by all, she is the one solution to every problem that arises in our centre and our lives. Besides being a stellar administrator, she is very passionate about counselling and helping people heal faster with positive behaviour and positive thoughts.
Archana Mhatre
General Manager
Having been a part of the Unison family since 1998, she is the most familiar face and sound at our center. A very compassionate but outspoken person, you will often see her multi-tasking between the front desk, overseeing the clinic operations, catching up on the lives of our patients and giving them health tips.
Pradeep Sawant
Accounts Manager
Our accountant since 1998, he is around to help anyone who is having a busy time with their chores. His ever smiling face and calm composure helps defuse work stress for many of us.

Having joined us a few years ago, this young X-ray technician and data manager brought in new enthusiasm and continues to enliven us all with her quirky humour.
Yellawa and Chandrakala
Office Helper/Lab Assistant
They are our “super-duo” clinic helpers who make sure our staff and our patients have a comfortable time at the clinic. Yellawa, called ‘the committed soul’ for the last 25 years is very perseverant in all that she does and loves feeding people. Chandrakala is known for her empathetic patient care and her delicious evening chai.
