Clinical microbiology and diagnostics
Dr. Prapti is passionate about point-of-care diagnostics, antimicrobial stewardship and infection control. She completed her MD in Microbiology at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital and a fellowship in HIV and drug-resistant tuberculosis at CAPRISA in South Africa, a UNAIDS Collaborating Centre for HIV Research and Policy.
Hospital and laboratory leadership
She served at the Group of TB Hospitals, Sewri from 2016 to 2018, then headed the microbiology laboratory and served as Infection Control Officer at Prince Aly Khan Hospital from 2018 to 2021. During the COVID-19 pandemic she worked closely on infection-control practice and prevention education for staff, patients and the wider public.
She helped establish the in-house pathology and microbiology laboratory at Masina Hospital in 2023 and heads its microbiology department.
Making diagnostics more useful
Her vision is to make reliable results, rapid turnaround and medical guidance available together so people can better understand their illness and take charge of their health. That vision helped shape UniLabs Diagnostics.
Dr. Prapti has served as an Independent Director of Thyrocare Technologies Limited since July 2023.
